Product at a glance

  • Soluble powder product for FOG degradation in systems such as grease traps and interceptors.
  • Diverse lipase, esterase and biosurfactant capabilities make FOG deposits more bioavailable, breaking them down into more digestible components.
  • Contains beneficial bacteria capable of fully degrading the common components of FOG deposits, therefore preventing the formation of FOG issues further downstream.
  • Able to improve COD, bulking and floatation issues associated with fats, oils and grease.
  • Reduces instances of blockages and number of call outs to maintain grease traps and interceptors.

Applications

FOG deposit issues in grease traps and interceptors

Reducing COD contributions from FOG in effluents

Municipal and industrial wastewater plants

Grease traps and interceptors

Suited to effluents rich in organic materials

The technology

Fats, oils and grease in wastewater systems cause a range of problems including: excess BOD/COD contributions, clogging and fouling, foaming and floc floatation as well as promoting the growth of filamentous bacteria. In many wastewater systems the native microbial population may not have the necessary tools to deal with the growing challenge of FOG.

How it works

Evogen GTP has been formulated to address the limitations of wastewater systems in dealing with fats, oils and grease. The unique blend of readily biodegradable surfactants combined with FOG degrading microorganisms offers a versatile solution to controlling and mitigation issues related to FOG. From dosing into sewer lines to wet wells and lift stations, the technology offers the wastewater operator a technology for controlling FOG across a wide range of scenarios.

The product works via a two-pronged approach, first a low concentration of a surfactant make FOG deposits more bioavailable, next the specifically selected Bacillus microbes fully degrade the FOG to CO2 and water. It is this combination that prevents FOG from simply traveling further downstream and forming hard scale as commonly found with enzymatic, chemical and poorly designed biological treatments.

Directions for use

Evogen GTP is supplied in 20kg containers and in 200g or 400g water soluble bio-pouches.

The bio-pouches are intended for single dose. We recommend that one bio-pouch is used per day for most situations. Simply add the bio-pouch to tepid water, mix for a few minutes and pour the the solution into problem drains including those leading to grease traps.

Evogen GTP should be dosed at times of little or no activity, or at times of slow flow. This helps to optimise conditions for biodegradation of grease and other target substrates.

Due to the biological nature of the product, extremes of temperature and pH should be avoided. Also, care should be taken to ensure harsh chemicals, biocides, sanitisers or bleaches are not added to the drain line, grease trap or toilet system prior to or immediately following product application.

Considerations

GTP can be dosed directly into sewer systems, pipes and wet wells (lift stations, manholes), grease traps or interceptors and/or directly into effluent streams.

For dosing instructions please contact technical support with details of your flows and loads.

Limitations

The product will perform poorly in highly alkaline (>pH 9) and highly acidic (<pH 4) effluents and will also lose activity at low (<15 ̊C) and high (>40 ̊C) temperatures.

Effluent types rich in phenolic and hydrocarbon species such as those from wineries, olive mills or heavy industry are not suitable for this product. For specialised effluent types contact our technical department for alternative solutions and more information.

Safety

Via both cell cytotoxicity assays and genomic screens for toxin production, we can confirm that all Bacillus species and strains within the product are safe to use, harbour no toxicity towards humans or animals, and have no negative impact upon the environment.

From analysing the DNA of our strains, we can also confirm a lack of mobile genetic elements, which strongly indicates a low potential for transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes.
