Our patented Biosan technology has been utilised in sanitary waste bin treatments across the globe to protect washroom users and maintain hygienic facilities. Our unique vapour-phase Biosan technology has proven to be unbeatable in terms of efficacy against harmful bacteria and prevention of malodour. Within the range, we have a variety of delivery systems including a biodegradable cards, powders, granules and sheets. Through our ongoing product development program, we now have the addition of a liner that incorporates our natural Biosan technology providing an all-in-one solution to sanitary bin hygiene.
The need for Biosan
Sanitary waste may contain between 1 million and 10 million harmful bacteria per gram when placed in the bin. When using ineffective treatments, bacteria levels in the waste can rapidly increase to infectious levels over 100 million per gram in just a few days. This level of bacteria creates severe malodour and can pose a risk to the health of washroom users and service personnel.
Biosan products are based on volatile plant extracts that are active throughout the bin, controlling micro-organisms and suppressing odours at the source by implementing our patented, natural vapour technology. Our products are tested within their intended environments to ensure activity throughout the unit for the duration of service. All Biosan products undergo stringent checks and controls to ensure that our nature-led solution is effective and safe.
Biosan ActivLiner
Biosan ActivLiner is a triple-action product for the containment, disinfection and deodorisation of feminine hygiene waste. It immediately provides a pleasant, fresh fragrance and emits natural anti-microbial vapours to eradicate harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses that enter and grow in the waste unit (e.g. Sanitary bin or PPE disposal unit).
Unlike other anti-microbial liners based on silver ion technology that works only via direct contact, the active biocidal vapours produced by the Biosan ActivLiner permeate the surface of waste without contact, eradicating pathogens and preventing odours from developing at the source.
This method of control effectively protects service personnel and washroom users from any pathogenic microorganisms when using the sanitary waste units and prevents any offensive odours from developing at the source, which can adversely affect a business’s reputation.
How does the Biosan ActivLiner work?
The Biosan ActivLiner incorporates our natural Biosan technology with recycled plastic to provide the first efficacious vapour-phase antimicrobial liner on the market. The active components are based on a unique blend of volatile, natural plant extracts.
The first noticeable effect is the immediate fragrance action which creates a pleasant aroma in the waste unit and surrounding room.
The natural antimicrobial vapours then permeate the whole unit and continue to be effective even when the waste unit is full. This provides effective deodorisation and disinfection of waste units for up to 4 weeks, up to 30% longer than most available products. The totally dry system has been specifically developed to release the natural germicide in a controlled manner to ensure effectiveness throughout the duration of the service cycle.
Scientifically verified and validated
The Biosan ActivLiner has been tested and passes the following standard disinfectant methods:
- BS EN ISO 21702:2019- Measurement of the antiviral activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces, proving efficacy against all enveloped viruses as defined in the standard, including all coronaviruses and SARS-CoV-2.
- BS EN ISO 22196:2011 – measurement of antibacterial activity of treated plastics and other nonporous surfaces of products.
